About Me
I believe that learning shouldn’t be boring or mundane; it should be fun, interesting, and engaging! My mom and 2nd-grade teacher made lessons come alive through activities, which is my objective with Addison in Learnerland.
I have always loved reading and being read to. From the day I was born, my mom read hundreds of books to me. Throughout my life, I have spent hours at my local library checking out as many high-quality books as possible. By the start of 2nd grade, I often devoured 200-300 pages daily.
When I was seven, I moved from the plains of Texas to the jungles of Sumatra, Indonesia, because of my dad’s job. I immediately fell in love with adventure, unique cultures, and traveling. Over 21 years, I lived in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, Lagos, Nigeria, and on the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Java.
Growing up as a third-culture kid, I had the time of my life! The adventures I have most people think I have made up. I promise you they are 100% true! How many people have been evacuated via pirate-infested waters without working sonar equipment or have ridden an elephant bareback around their soccer field? I have been fortunate not only to have these incredible adventures but also to meet and keep in contact with many exceptional individuals from across the world.
These days, you will typically see me with my adorable Yorkie daughter, Periwynkle, in my arms as I teach and dance around the house. I named my third company Positive Periwynkle, after her. I also enjoy cooking gourmet dishes, painting, writing, playing tennis, hiking with Periwynkle, and taking spin and yoga classes. I continue to read, give back to those in need, and travel the world every chance I get.
Thank you for trusting me to help you educate your children through Addison in Learnerland’s uniquely cultivated programs!
